I used to live over in Largo and we would take the kids over to ride these wonderful Mini Trains at Largo Central Park the first weekend of the month! I found these photos in our 2003 Scrapbook (Annabelle was 4, Kevin was 18 months old and I was pregnant with our 3rd child so my Mom is riding with the kids)…isn’t it fun to look into someone else’s life?! It is basically a large train set that you can actually RIDE! It has over one mile of track, which travels through a tunnel and all around the park. Great Fun!
It is worth the drive to go! This Saturday (Dec. 1) and Sunday (Dec. 2), from 10 am – 4pm, everyone can ride the mini train for free (which is the normal price). Children must be at least one year of age to ride. All passengers must wear shoes while riding the train or in the train station/boarding area.
The event regularly takes place on the first full weekend of each month. The rides are free, but they do accept donations to keep the program operating.
Largo Central Park is located at 101 Central Park Drive in Largo, FL. Go HERE for more details!
I have also always wanted to take the kids on the Polar Express Train for a Christmas fun excursion (I always miss the ordering deadline…and yes, unfortunately, this year it is already sold out as well), but there might still be seats available where YOU live! (their is a murder mystery dinner train available in FL if you are interested go HERE)
There are official Polar Express Trains in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington (state), West Virginia, Wisconsin and Canada.
Maybe you are traveling this winter? This would definitely be something super fun and memorable to do while visiting!
