Thanks! I didn’t want to be using coupons improperly so that’s why I asked. The store isn’t losing out, they will still get paid for the coupon. And if their registers accept them without an override, I feel it is okay to use them. But if/when it stops I will know why! (And I’ll probably stop buying their What-a-Deals, without the additional coupons they are rarely a good deal.)

    • http://www.TrueCouponing.com/ Melisha

      Hi again, Kathy!
They don’t display their coupon policy on their site. We emailed them and asked if they had anything in writing. They send us a PDF, and we include a link to it at the top of all our Winn Dixie Weekly Ad posts. You can find it here: http://truecouponing.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Winn-Dixie-Coupon-Policy-1142011fv.pdf

This is what it says regarding Make-a-Meal and What-a-Deal promotions:

“Coupons presented for items that are part of the Make-a-Meal, Double Play or What-a-Deal promotion will only validate for redemption on the MAIN item in the deal.

Coupons for the free items will require store management approval.”

It has been overwhelmingly confirmed by our readers as well as our personal experience and research that most Winn Dixie store managers will not allow coupons on the free items. However, there are some that do.

If your store accepts coupons on the free items, please use our Coupon Database here (http://truecouponing.com/coupon-database/) to look up coupons for those items.

We strive to provide accurate information and always discourage coupon abuse in any form. Since coupons are not accepted by the overwhelming majority of stores, we do not publish coupon matchups for the free items. We feel that if we did publish coupon matchups for the free items, we would appear to be condoning fraudulent use of coupons.

I hope that helps explain it all a little better. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any other questions or concerns.

…and be thankful if your store accepts coupons on the free items! :-)

Thanks Melisha. I have looked on their site and haven’t found a coupon policy. There are several non W/D sites/blogs listing their policy but each one is different. Most don’t even mention What-a-deal.

    • http://www.TrueCouponing.com/ Melisha

It is written in their corporate coupon policy. We can check to see if this has changed recently.

Individual store managers can make different decisions regarding their coupon policies.

    • http://www.facebook.com/kathy.boyd.566 Kathy Boyd

Where did you get the info that Winn Dixie doesn’t accept coupons on the free items? I have always used them without an issue at both the self check out and regular cashier lanes. They don’t require an override so I assumed they were acceptable.
