Would LOVE to know how to get a hold of one of those bag clips for the shopping cart!!! Thanks for the video and the workshop. I am new at all of this and going on my first shopping trip to Publix tomorrow with my coupons in tow! Wish me luck!

I want to know what it is and where I can get one? That nifty little thing you hung your bags on the side of the shopping cart with!!

  • TrueKati

You can totally do this GadaboutGranna! Being a TrueCouponer doesn’t mean you have to have these trips every single week!! In fact, that is the essence of TRUEcouponing! Lose the guilt! Look at what you were spending on your monthly bill before…then compare to how much you are spending after TrueCouponing. Even if you use NO coupons (so no time invested), but just shop from the sale…you will be saving money! Time is a hot commodity around my home (I homeschool 4 different grades, blog, church, then life, etc) I am strapped for time!! This truly works! If I can do it…anyone can too! Actually, that is how the blog came to be, I started sharing my personal list with my friends and WOW those friends grew into what the site is today!
One last tip…don’t get sidetracked by the coupons…all that matters is the final price you are paying. For example, a product may be BOGO and have a coupon but still NOT be at the lowest sale price (sometimes the 3/$5 sale with a smaller value coupon ends up an even lower price than the bogo+coupon). That little shopping cart tells you what is the best price for something! Use cash for your budget and build your list looking for the shopping carts, you will be amazed at how you actually have money left over at the end of the month…plus, you have loads of items to fill your pantry! You can do this!
Hope to help you feel inspired!

Thanks Tina! Yes, that could have been used too…but I had already used mine earlier, so it was out of prints for me already…but since then (we taped this back in April) I was able to print again. WooHoo! Feels nice to have such a large value coupon for cheese!!

  • TrueKati

You are exactly correct Greenoct7! Thank you for contributing…sometimes it takes a while for  me to circle back around the comments!! Perfect explanation! I sincerely appreciate your response!! Not even anything more I can add :-)

Oh, my! I am a Gramma (65 yrs. old) and have been couponing since January 2011.Without the True Couponing site, I would not be able to eat as well as I do. I get one Sunday paper and get the extra coupons from neighbors. Of course, I print some online because I don’t have them from the RedPlum, SmartSource, P&G, etc., or perhaps they are higher dollar online, i.e., $1/1 kind of cereal, and I have a $1/3 coupon. I shop every week at Publix and buy only what is on sale and specifically, I pay attention to the BOGO’s. The week that included May 24, I got 12 containers of Cesar Canine Cuisine Dog Food FREE. Last week I got 20 13 oz. cans of Alpo for $6 or 30¢ a can. They were on sale for 65¢ a can and usually $1.19 at my Publix. This is how I supplement my geriatric dog’s diet. Two weeks ago, I paid 33% OOP ($19.41 for $58.38 worth of groceries), and last week, I paid 34.5% OOP (paid $30.25 for $87.56 groceries). The time I spend on couponing has become much less as I get more time “under my belt.” I also know a lot of the foods that I or my family will eat so do not try as many kinds of brands as I did when I first started couponing. I consider couponing my part-time job. It’s the best job ever!

To be a true couponer it take LOTS of work.  It doesn’t work well for a single person.  Don’t get me wrong.  It does Help but…..I never walked out of the store with my bill cut in half.  I did take the class and I use to get two papers and went online for coupons.  I even traded with friends.  I think it is great for a person with a family if you have the TIME for it.  Oh and ever since the TV shows about couponing….the coupons aren’t as good.  You use to get 2 for 25 cents and now it is 3 for 25 cents.
    Anyway good luck couponing!

  • Tina

Katie-had you also taken 2 of those Florida $1.00 off any cheese you would havesaved another $2.00 as the $1.00 was off each produce.  Any time you have to buy this to get that-you still can use coupons to buy the “This”.

She is looking at the total savings and cost from the grocery purchases only; she has to buy gasoline anyhow, and these are prepaid cards for use later. You COULD calculate the grocery savings and separately calculate the savings on the gasoline ($50.00 worth of gas for $40.00); she applied her $10.00 savings per card to the amount she saved on the groceries. she has just chosen to apply the savings to the groceries. Each way is accurate; just don’t apply the savings to both the groceries AND the gasoline.

im curious on that as well…..she didnt have any oveage, so why ist the gas cards included in the total?

  • sweetjeanette

Im confused.  She did have to pay $40.00 each for the gas gift cards, the deal was $10.00 off.  So shouldn’t the 80-bucks be added to that total?   What am I not following here?
