Real Life Shopping Trip! ~ Saved 69% (Spent $54)

May 25, 2012 · 3 comments

It’s time to go shopping again! If you have been following along for the past few weeks, you can basically see how I shop based on what is at the lowest price. This week I am stocking up on condiments, such as Mayo and Mustard because they are within the lowest price I will pay ($2 for mayo and $.60 for mustard). Pickles and Velveeta too (both around $2). The Lifesavers are just a treat, since we are headed out of town for the weekend (FL Homeschool Convention). This is also the only time I stock up on Lighters for summer BBQ’s. They should go back on sale again near the end of summer, but the coupon will be a little less in value, therefore making them a higher price.

Here’s what I got today at Publix: (This sale ends on Weds 5/30, so you still have plenty of time to shop! Check out the entire list HERE.)

Remember, I buy most of my meat at a local Meat Market, and Produce at a local Produce stand, so keep in mind that this shopping trip is contributing to my stockpile to use in conjunction with that meat and produce bought elsewhere. We are feeding a family of six for around $300 per month. So far this month I have spent $111 + $25 + $54 = $190.57. In the coming weeks, I will show some produce and meat shopping trips (those trips are only about once a month).
Be inspired!! If I can do this you can too!

    Hi Carrah!
The Publix $5/$30 just comes in my mailbox. They are determined by proximity to a store Publix wants to promote. I noticed last summer we received quite a few of them, but they were opening a new store…so I thought that was the reason. Not sure why they are coming now, but it sure helps! The Tampa Bay area gets two different newspapers, the Tampa Tribune and the Tampa Bay Times. Publix puts a $2 off coupon in both papers each Sunday. But each week it is a different $2 off, this week it was $2 off a Deli purchase. Last week it was $2 off Bakery etc. Hope that makes more sense!  ~Kati
