FAQs: How do I get on the Target mailing list to receive coupons?

This post may contain affiliate links. See our complete Disclosure and Privacy Policy .

We know sometimes couponing can be confusing, and we are here to help!

Here at True Couponing, we receive questions daily about all kinds of things pertaining to couponing. To help answer your questions, we will regularly post Questions and Answers to some of the Frequently Asked Questions we receive from our readers.

Today’s question comes from a comment left on the website…

    Question:

“Does anyone know how to get the Target mailers?”

    Answer:

How to get on the Target mailing list to receive coupon booklets by mail is a mystery, but there are a few things you can try…

    • Register to receive Target updates by mobile device and/or email.
    • Create a Gift Registry.  Registering for a Wedding, Baby or even a Birthday “Target List” can get you on their mailing list.
    • Sign up for Target Samples.  Target sometimes offers free samples of products. Sign up and you could get on their mailing list!
    • Make a purchase from Target.com.  You can even choose to have your purchase delivered to a Target store to avoid shipping charges.
    • Stop by the Target Pharmacy Customer Service desk and ask if they have any coupon booklets.  Sometimes they have the same ones that were mailed out! (This doesn’t get you on the mailing list, but sometimes they have the same coupons at the pharmacy that were mailed out.)
    • You could also apply for a Target credit card.  However, I never like to recommend signing up for credit cards!  :-)

If you know of any other ways to get on the Target mailing list, please leave a comment below!

I signed up for a redcard earlier this year and I still have yet to receive any coupon booklets in the mail. =(

Unfortunately, there is no tried and true way to get on a Target mailing list. It’s possible if you make a registry list or buy on Target.com. We have been told by a Target employee that if you get a Target Debit Card you will be on their mailing list. Hope this gives you some ideas.

How do you sign up for any kind of mailing coupons?

    • CindyTC

Thanks so much for that information, Rogue!!

I work at guest service at a Target and unfortunately not all Target stores are able to have online items shipped to their location. BUT Target does have a debit card known as the Red Card which is not a credit card. it comes out of your already existing checking account you already have with your bank, it saves you 5% everytime. when you sign up you’re also added to the mailing list

Careful using that Target debit card, though. It pulls through your checking account as an ACH transaction meaning that it takes 3 – 5 business days to post – same as writing a check and having it processed electronically. Target has no magical way of getting direct access to your bank account. They also have no way of knowing what your balance is right then and there. With the delay in processing it can cause your account to overdraft AND it is a transaction which is subject to overdraft fees even under new regulations because it’s technically the same as writing a check – NOT using your bank debit card. I work for bank customer service and unfortunately see people overdraft with that dang card constantly. The fees add up quickly and easily cancels out the “savings” you get from a 5% discount.

If you don’t like the Credit card you can get the Debit card, it’s hooked up to your checking account you already have, so you don’t have to pay a bill or get a credit inquiry. But it has all the same deals that come on the credit card. Like anything else it’s not a guarantee to get the coupons, but at least you can save 5% with it, and it’s better than applying for a credit card. :)

I spoke with a Target credit card rep last week.  She told me you cannot get voluntarily on any coupon list for Target, even if you have a red card.  It is totally random via their marketing department.  They will not even let customers or card holders speak to a marketing specialist; they take messages for them…

I receive text and email alerts, and have received numerous samples from Target but I am still not on their coupon mailing list.  :(  Frustrating!  I don’t plan on buying an item from their website either just to get on their mailing list if it’s not guaranteed.  Does anyone know?

    • Caren

Having a Target credit card doesn’t mean you’ll get them though. I have one and haven’t received any booklets lately :(

If you can’t get on a mailing list, most people don’t know that you can just go to the pharmacy and request the Target Coupon Booklet for that month. You can also get similar booklets at Kroger and Walgreens.
